A song that makes me ache

I love this song (though this recording of it is terrible), have loved it since I first heard it, but it makes my heart ache.  Warren Zevon recorded it when he knew he was dying.  I miss his music.  I miss Mom.  I miss Ed.  I miss so many we have lost.

For all of them, this song.

For all of them, I did, I do, and I will.

He did indeed "Enjoy every sandwich". Keeping love in your heart for those that have left us is the best tribute to them you can give them. Thank you for posting this song.

It's a very touching song.

I was nearly 50 before I experienced the loss of a close loved one. Now, sadly, it has become a common occurrence.

To me, the loss of someone I love is a little like fixing them permanently to my soul.

We accumulate the memories of our loved ones, and we become like a tapestry to honor them, if only for our personal understanding. In the end, our lives are full to the brim with this meaning, distinct from any other person's understanding, but deeply comforting and relevant to us as individuals.

This is what makes us who we are. It gives our lives essential context. We can celebrate the awesome beauty of this brilliant design.

What a wondrous, devastating journey.
