On the road again: Austin, day 3

The vast majority of the day went to meetings, which though full of interesting conversations are not, as usual, things I can discuss.

Dinner was an extremely tasty and inventive meal at Qui, which is to my taste one of the more interesting, innovative, and fun places to eat in the area.  I recommend it to anyone with an interest in modernist cuisine.

It's way later than the timestamp indicates, so I'm crashing now.  Morning will begin tomorrow entirely too early for my taste.

On the road again: Austin, day 3

The sky was clear here today, the weather brisk but only seasonably so.  Meanwhile, back home, snow fell and left many people stuck in their homes.

Our meetings were interesting, but of course I cannot discuss them.

Dinner was a delightful meal at a new Austin stand-out, Qui.  The first time I tried to go there, the wait time was unbearable.  Now, Qui accepts some reservations, so I was able to be sure I had a seat.  The food was light and delightful, with lots of flavors from many different types of cuisines.  I recommend it highly.

Now, back to work.

On the road again: Austin, day 3

More interesting meetings, more I can't discuss.

Dinner really is the only part of the day I can talk about.  Tonight, we'd hoped to eat at newcomer and hot Austin restaurant, Qui.  The menu looks interesting, and the place is getting national attention, but it doesn't take reservations.  When we showed up about 8:15 p.m., the wait was at least ninety minutes.

I had too much piled-up work to be able to waste that much time, so we headed off to an Austin institution, Fonda San Miguel.  They seated us immediately, and the food was delicious, as always.

As I've noted in past blog entries, I particularly like the lights in the trees outside this restaurant.  The blue tree to the left of the building is a definite favorite.

This photo is just as I took it with my phone; I've done no work on it, but I love how it came out.

This visit, the red up-lights mixed with the blue tree lights in front of the entrance to create an effect I found delightful.

You can't go wrong with Fonda San Miguel.
