Trump on the peaceful transition of power

From the debate earlier tonight:

Chris Wallace: But, sir, there is a tradition in this country, in fact, one of the prides of this country is the peaceful transition of power and no matter how hard fought a campaign is that at the end of the campaign, that the loser concedes to the winner. Not saying you're necessarily going to be the loser or the winner, but that the loser concedes to the winner and the country comes together in part for the good of the country. Are you saying you're not prepared now to commit to that principle?
Donald Trump: What I’m saying is that I will tell you at the time. I'll keep you in suspense, okay?
No, it's not okay.  It's really not.

Chris Wallace is a Fox News reporter, and even he was clearly incredulous at this declaration from Trump.

If you lose, you don't fight the election results; you concede and move on with your life.

At this point, Trump is so consistently outrageous that people joke about his behavior, shrug, and seem to accept it.  We should not.  We must not.

The only sure way to keep Trump from becoming the next President of the United States is by voting for Hillary Clinton.

I am voting for Hillary Clinton.

You should, too.

Talking to Trump is like speaking to a five year old. He pouts, interrupts, lies and then says mean things. Did his very high priced advisors not teach him the rudimentary rules of debate? He is detestable. He thinks because he is rich that he is smarter than everyone else and can do as he pleases. His boasts of how he can get "terrific, huge" trade deals is bullshit. He is an unscrupulous businessman who we cannot allow to be in charge of anything, let alone our country. You didn't see Hillary name calling and acting the buffoon. And, don't get me started on his sexual assault situation. The thought of this man touching me in any way, makes me cringe. He needs to take his fembot wife and offspring and go back to his golden tower and do what he does best, act the clown. I cannot respect anyone who feels this man is capable of leading our country for the next four years, unless their intent is make us the laughing stock of the world and get us blown up...Pull up your big boy undies, Donald, and be a man.

It could be interesting at the G8 if Trump is elected as he would have to deal with Prime Minister May and Chancellor Merkel, both of whom wouldn't put up with his misogynistic behaviour.

I pray we never see him in a public office.

Dear Mark,

Trump would be a bad (more to the point, a worse) president, but it's nonsense to claim that his bluster is unique in American politics. Look at how John Adams behaved at the transition to Jefferson and his party: packing the courts, reducing the size of the supreme court--and refusing to shake Jefferson's hand on leaving office.

(For that matter, things got pretty heated in the 1840s, also. And I won't even mention the run-up to the Civil War.) You can only claim that Trump is unique if you don't know (or choose to ignore) American history.

Vote your conscience, but don't demonize the other side. At your level in business, you deal with people like Trump every week if not every day.

As always,
Dave

I don't believe I've tried to demonize Trump, and certainly nothing in this post does that. I do believe he's the worst major-party candidate in my lifetime. I don't argue that we've seen extraordinarily bad behavior in the past. I do think it's fair to argue passionately for a candidate in this election.
