On the road again: Austin, day 3

Once again, work filled the day from very early until very, very late, with no breaks whatsoever.

Both meals were also for work, though with friends, colleagues, and clients.

Lunch was barbecue at a nearby Rudy's.  In Austin, the brisket and sausage here are good but no more, sort of average, tasty barbecue offerings.  In Raleigh, both would be by far the best available.

Dinner was a delightful and delicious meal at an old favorite of mine, Uchiko.  We opted for the omakase, and it was, as always, extremely good from start to finish.  If you ever have a chance to eat at Uchiko, do so.

We headed to a nearby Amy's for small cups of ice cream as dessert.  Their peach ice cream is particularly good right not.

Time for a wee bit of sleep.

On the road again: Austin, day 3

Another day of interesting meetings and cool technology, another day of stuff I cannot discuss.

Another 19-hour workday, another day on the road.

Dinner was a lovely meal with a client and friend at Uchiko, a light and delicious Japanese treat.  I've recommended Uchiko before, and I wholeheartedly do so again.  We followed the dinner with dessert at a nearby Amy's, always a treat. 

Now, I fall over and go boom.

On the road again: Austin, day 4

Lunch today was with client friends at a new barbecue joint I'd never tried: Stiles Switch BBQ & Brew.  The brisket was good, but the stars of the show were the huge beef ribs.  If you're in the Austin area and love the mighty beef rib, consider Stiles.

Dinner was at a long-time favorite, Uchiko.  Our group tried the ten-course omakase, basically the chef's tasting menu, and it was delightful.  No dish was too big, each was extremely flavorful, and the collection showcased a great many aspects of Uchiko's menu.  I highly recommend this restaurant. 

On the road again: Austin, day 4

Wow, has today been crazily busy and even more insanely cold. I expected the first from a trip to Austin, but the second remains an unpleasant aspect I hope not to repeat anytime soon.

About the only activity I can discuss today was the excellent dinner at Uchiko, the new restaurant from the folks behind the equally fine Uchi. Four of us ordered omakase, which is basically a tasting menu the chef creates. I enjoyed every single dish and will definitely go back there, though the experience was not for the budgetarily weak of heart.

Tomorrow, the possible snow and the already present ice permitting, I head home.
