The heart of The Squeeze

After lunch and errands today, a small group of us stopped by a local shop for a hit of The Squeeze (aka soft-serve ice cream with colorful flavor sauces woven into them).

Kyle went for the fabled Blue Goo, which was barely visible on top but which lurked in quantity below.

Yes, Kyle tapped into the deep blue vein below.

Gina and I split an orange, which also hid its vein of color deep below the surface.

I wouldn't choose a steady diet of The Squeeze, but a couple of times a year, it's just the right frozen treat.

The Squeeze is back

As I've mentioned in past beach entries, "The Squeeze" is our name for the type of soft-serve ice cream you get from a Flavor-Burst machine.  Once readily available here at the beach, it is now on offer from only one business, and that business used to open at 4:00 p.m.  To our great pleasure, the business now welcomes customers starting at 1:30 p.m., which is perfect for a post-lunch Squeeze.

Today, we celebrated this fact with just such a delicacy.

I split a small cup of orange.

It was everything I had hoped for.

We mustn't forget The Squeeze

"The Squeeze" is the term we, the beach people, use for the Flavor Burst soft-serve ice cream that injects lines of oddly colored, oddly flavored syrup into vanilla soft-serve.  The Squeeze is a beach joy on the edge of extinction; only one shop in the immediate area still offers it.

The other day, four of us enjoyed three different types of Squeeze:  black cherry, strawberry, and grape.

The gray one is grape.  The tablecloth is standard equipment at the putt-putt place that still maintains an operating Squeeze machine.

Today, three of us went for a somewhat different choice of flavors:  blue goo, orange, and the oft-chosen strawberry.

Prior to today's Squeezepedition, we spent some time examining the offerings of various beach thrift shops, an always interesting experience.  At the front of one shop stood this roughly life-size Charlie Chaplin statue, easily the creepiest such thing I've seen in quite a while.

If Chaplin looks okay to you, blow up the photo and check out his mouth.  Mark my words:  This Chaplin statue has tasted human flesh.

In news of the Bobcake, today we mounted a counteroffensive and gained serious ground.  Now, only a solitary pillar remains, albeit a formidable one.

I believe we may yet vanquish the mighty Bobcake!
